- Teaching at all levels in both Russian and Czech programmes is enhanced by the strong research ethos of the academic staff, who between them have published very widely in the fields of modern Russian language, Russian history, thought, prose fiction, poetry, theatre, drama and popular culture from the early 18th century to the present day and on Czech and Slovak literature and comparative literature.
The Department is located in one of the villas on Woodland Road, close to the other four language departments of the School of Modern Languages. It has its own material resources room which is equipped with live television (currently linked to NTV International), two designated computer work-stations for use with Russian and Czech, and a collection of resources relating to Russian and Czech language and culture. It is located near to the Arts Faculty Library, which has a large Russian holding built up over many years and also a collection of films on VHS and DVD - Website
