- The Department of Information Services has 4 libraries which are open to the public. Each library has a substantial video collection as part of its subject resources. Although the majority of programmes are off-air recordings, there s a large number of commercially available specialist programmes in each library. Three of the libraries are located in or near Brighton town centre: St Peter s House Library, Aldrich Library and Falmer Library. The fourth, Queenswood Library, is in Eastbourne. Each library has a telephone line for enquiries and it is recommended that visitors phone the relevant site in the first instance or search the library catalogue online. All stock is catalogued and searchable via the Web OPAC at http://library.brighton.ac.uk St Peter s House Library (Richmond Terrace, Brighton BN2 2NA. Tel: 01273 643220; Fax: 01273 607532) supports a broad range of courses in the arts and design, including editorial photography, fashion textiles, fine art, graphic design, humanities, illustration, interior design, performing arts and three-dimensional studies in craft and production. Studies in culture and society and in visual culture encompass film and television. There is a slide library and a trade literature collection. Access to the slide library is limited to registered students and staff due to copyright restrictions. St Peter s House Library has been described by the Higher Educational Funding Council for England as being of national importance. Aldrich Library (Cockcroft Building, Brighton BN2 4GJ. Fax: 01273 642988) supports the following areas of study: computing, maths and IT, information and media studies, library and information studies, pharmacy and biochemistry, microbiology, business studies, finance and accountancy, engineering, construction, environment, architecture and interior design. Aldrich Library is the largest of the site libraries and has the largest video collection. The audiotape collection mostly comprises language learning material. Falmer Library (Falmer, Brighton BN1 9PH. Tel: 01273 643569. Fax: 01273 643560) houses resources to support many courses in education, languages, health studies, nursing and social sciences. There is a large collection of schools broadcasts and language learning audiovisual learning material. Queen wood Library (Darley Road, Eastbourne BN20 7UN. Tel: 01273 643682. Fax: 01273 643825) supports service management, leisure and tourism, sports science, physiotherapy, podiatry and nursing. The video collection is an intrinsic part of overall resources.
