WINDROSE RURAL MEDIA TRUST

Description
Previously known as the TRILITH RURAL VIDEO UNIT, Windrose is a media charity, based in Bourton, Dorset. As part of its general activities, which include video, TV and radio production and community media training, it has gathered an extensive collection of moving images, mainly of Dorset but also from Wiltshire, dating from 1905 to the present day, including both amateur and professional work. In partnership with the county record offices in Wiltshire and Dorset, it actively seeks archive film material and arranges for storage and preservation with the above partners where appropriate. It’s main aim is to put these images back into circulation and, to this end, it works on high quality video copies to assemble locally targeted programmes for public showings in the communities of Wiltshire and Dorset which also feature an increasing amount of newly-shot material providing a context for the archive material. There is also a steadily growing amount of audio material which is being produced by the various community radio production projects run by Trilith-Windrose. This mainly consists of short, documentary type material but also includes some original short drama.
