Description: The Learning Centre collection supports Sheffield Hallam University’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses in film and media, which are primarily theoretical but also contain a production element. The collection also supports research in these areas within the University. It contains key reference books (e.g. The Knowledge, Spotlight, AFI Catalog, BFI Handbook) and the journals are a mixture of the popular (e.g. Empire, Premiere). critical (e.g. Sight & Sound, Screen, Cahiers du Cinema) and trade (e.g. Variety, Broadcast). A number of early journal titles (e.g. The Bioscope, Kinematograph Weekly) are also available on microfilm. Collection strengths include British cinema, biography, and broadcasting history and policy. There is a significant collection of approximately 200 items (including videocassettes of feature films) relating to Alfred Hitchcock.
