ROYAL INSTITUTION OF GREAT BRITAIN

Description
Most of the moving image collection relates to videos and audio recordings of lectures held at the Royal Institution.

There are two main subsets:
The Christmas Lectures, which are specifically for Children entirely on scientific subjects. Video recordings date back to the 1960s, however there is not necessarily recordings from every year.

The Friday Evening Discourses (FED)which are mostly scientific lectures. Audiotapes and digital recordings of the FED go back to the 1950s to present. The Ri holds tapes of about 90% of the series.

There are also video recordings of some of the FED, these are produced in-house and commence about 1970.

In addition there are a small number of miscellaneous audio and visual recordings relating to various activities of the Royal Institution including the RI’s Mathematics and Science Masterclasses.
