Description
NB This collection is now part of AP Archive (qv separate entry).

The Overseas Film and Television Centre (OFTVC) is a collection of some of the most historically meaningful films still in existence showing Britain’s former colonies, mainly Africa and the Caribbean. Its main purpose was to promote economic and social development in the colonies and for all the colonial countries to obtain their own independent film units with technical help from the organisation in Britain. Also incorporated in the collection are a number of films from other clients, including Milk Marketing Board, Gullick (mining equipment manufacturer), RSPCA, Young’s Brewery, Castrol Oil, Crawfords Advertising Agency, Conservative Party, and the British Travel Association. There are also commercials made by the OFTVC for clients such as Ovaltine, Barclays Bank and Guinness.
