Description: The library service in Manchester was established in 1852. The Arts Library was established as a separate department in the Central Library in 1960, covering the performing arts as one of its subject areas. There is a full set of Radio Times as well as other journals. The Manchester Theatre Collection contains "The Manchester Programme of Entertainment and Leisure"1897-1934,a weekly journal which records the early days of cinema in Manchester.
