Description
The aim of the Archives and Special Collections Centre is to preserve, enhance and promote the rich and varied collections of the University. It seeks to inform, inspire, encourage and excite a diverse range of audiences in support of their creativity, learning and research in the arts, design and communications. In order to do this the centre collects, preserves and gives access to unique archives and special collections related to the teaching topics of the university as a whole. Outreach to schools, other universities and the public is specifically in line with the centre’s plans to promote the collections in the new Centre. A rapidly expanding collection of off-air and prerecorded videotapes and DVDs, covering a broad range of film styles and genres. Growing number of avant-garde and experimental films on video. All material held is in support of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses taught in the University Media School.
Artefact description
The main collection is the Stanley Kubrick Archive, there is also the John Schlesinger Collection and the Thorold Dickinson Cinema Collection.
