Description: Tyne Tees Television is the ITV contractor for the North East of England. Its collection includes 16mm film of local news from 1960-80 (black and white and colour), hi-band U-matic news tapes from 1980-1992 with current news output on Beta-SP. Local sport, especially football is also well represented. There is also a collection of local documentary (current affairs, farming, arts, etc.), features and drama programmes available from various sources (film, 1-inch, 2-inch and Beta-SP). Some non-TTTV material, both amateur and newsreel footage from c.1912-1960s is held in the company’s Flashback Library on Beta and VHS.

Video/Film: Video: News and magazine items form the bulk of the library material - now stored on Beta-SP. Other material includes complete programmes mostly of a local nature but covers current affairs, farming, drama and especially music. The Tube collection includes many pop bands from the late 1970s and 80s.
Video components: Hi-Band U-Matic, Beta/Beta-SP, 1" Video, Beta SX and DigiBeta.
Film components: 16mm, 35mm.

Notes: The in-house cross-reference filing system is used for all news/sports and archive programmes and a computer system (RECALL) has the last 10 years ' information on it. Some shotlists or print-outs are available. A listing of 1" and Beta programmes is available on card index and computer but shotlist details are not available.

Conservation policy: As space is becoming a premium, there is selective pruning of material.
