DURHAM UNIVERSITY LIBRARY: BASIL BUNTING POETRY ARCHIVE
- Description
- The University Library’s Basil Bunting Poetry Archive is an extensive collection of published works by and relating to the poet Basil Bunting (1900-1985), with manuscripts and papers, photographs, films and sound recordings. Bunting’s poetry is deeply rooted in the landscape, history, language and culture of his native Northumbria, where he spent his youth, and to which he returned for the last three decades of his life. He believed that sound was integral to poetic form, and that poetry must be heard. The collection’s films are chiefly copies on video of television programmes relating to Bunting, while the recordings include poetry readings and interviews made for television and radio.
