- Description
- Channel Television holds all tape and film stock of broadcast items from October 1962. The archive is mostly of local interest, covering Channel Island events and life. In addition to broadcast news and feature items, rushes of some specific events have been retained. These include: small boy falls into gorilla pit at Jersey Zoo and is protected by male animal, Jambo; passenger ferry hits rocks off Jersey, footage of passengers escaping into liferafts; the Newall murder enquiry; rare footage of the Liberation of the Channel Islands from German Occupation in 1945 (restricted access); early black and white footage of Channel Island life, including motor racing and aircraft landing on the beach before the airport was built (restricted access); programme items on every Island Games since inception in 1987; restricted access to moving footage of David & Frederick Barclay (owners of Brecqhou, The Scotsman, The European, etc). Other available footage: considerable general view material, including aerial shots of all Channel Islands.
