Description: The Britten-Pears Library was originally assembled by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) and Peter Pears (1910-1986) as a working collection of manuscripts, books, music, and sound and video recordings reflecting their interest and careers. Adjacent to The Red House, where Britten and Pears came to live in 1957, the Library is housed in former farm buildings first adapted in 1963 and greatly expanded in 1993. The collections continue to grow, serving the educational and informational needs of users, school groups and other visitors from all over the world.

Access: The Library is open Mon-Fri, 1000-1300 and 1415-1715 by prior appoiontment only.
Facilities: VHS material may be viewed on-site. There is no facility for viewing film material.
