This page presents the resources in a clearly laid out manner, making it easy to see at a glance what is on offer, with brief, informative summaries of each podcast and a clear design. There are too many resources to mention them all here, but selected highlights include: VoxEUROPP, Current Affairs in Mandarin, Institute of Public Affairs and Democratic Audio. There are also links to other outlets which syndicate the content, including iTunesU, YouTube, Webfeeds, mixcloud and Soundcloud. All the resources are freely available.

An oral history project created by the History Department at the University of Sheffield. The interviews were carried out by trained history students in the department. Common themes include Sheffield during World War II, local politics, youth culture and the music scene, the Miners’ Strikes and the impact of deindustrialisation on the city. A separate resource documents the history of the Walkley Action Group, a campaigning group which protested against planned slum demolition in the 1970s. A blog keeps users appraised of updates to the site.

This website is one of the outcomes of a project which set out to make available to the widest possible audience the sound collections of the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford University’s Museum of Anthropology and World Archaeology. The project has made available online a broad selection of the main ethnographic (field) sound collections held by the Museum. These include selections from the Edward Evans-Pritchard collection of recordings from made in Zandeland in South Sudan between 1928 and 1930, and recordings of the Bayaka tribe in the Central African Republic, made by pioneering ethnomusicologist Louis Sarno. In addition to the recordings themselves (which are hosted on SoundCloud), a useful array of contextual resources is available, including video interviews with a number of leading ethnomusicologists, sound curators, audio engineers, and other related experts, as well as talks from workshops which took place during the project programme, and stills and video clips made by Louis Sarno in the Central African Republic. In 2014 the Museum completed a major digitisation project on its film collections. Much of the material is unique and of significant historical importance, such as the films of Frederick Spencer Chapman made in Tibet, Greenland and Africa, Beatrice Blackwood in Papua New Guinea and Ursula Graham Bower in India.

The aim of this AHRC-funded project is to produce a digital research resource on the history of the Commonwealth since 1965, based on sixty interviews with major figures in the recent history of the organisation. Politicians, diplomats and civil servants discuss the evolution of the Commonwealth, focusing on key themes including leadership; mediation; bilateral and collaborative international pressure for racial justice; developmental issues and democratisation. An introductory page gives a Chronology of significant events. Researchers can search the reource by interviewee name, theme and by country discussed. There is also a helpful Glossary of names and terms, and Citation advice. Full transcripts of the interviews are available on the site and can also be downloaded as PDFs.

This free iTunes podcast is presented by Camille Chevalier-Karfis who, in each podcast, reads a French poem twice: once slowly, so that the listener can repeat the lines, and then at a more natural reading pace. She also speaks about the life of the poet, the poem’s language and vocabulary and analyses the text in clear, everyday French. The full text of the poems, as well as much more material - including audiobooks and language lessons - is available to paying subscribers on Chevalier-Karfis’s French Today website, which also includes a blog about French culture, travel, language, humour and cuisine.

Charon QC is the alias of Mike Temple Piggot, who is responsible for this collection of informative podcasts. The site hosts a number of different series and although the cluttered layout can make navigation tricky there is a lot of worthwhile content. The Tour Report series consists of one-to-one interviews with leading legal figures, such as this discussion with Charles Christian, Editor in Chief of Legal IT Insider on the role of information technology in modern legal practice. Another series - Without Prejudice - features Charon QC in discussion with journalist David Allen Green and barrister and former government lawyer Carl Gardner. Other podcasts focus on human rights and legal ethics as well as looking at the legal profession itself. In addition to the podcast the site also features Piggot’s InsiteLaw magazine which contains links to news stories, links to law related posts from UK and other bloggers and a lively discussion board run by the members.
