Chance is produced by the Mathematics Department of Dartmouth College, Hanover NH. Its goal is to support its courses which aim ‘to make students more informed, critical readers of current news stories that use probability and statistics.' The Videos and Audios page includes series of lectures given at Dartmouth in 1997, 1998 and 2000, on such themes as ‘Quantifying the Nature-Nurture Debate’, ‘Probability by Surprise’ and ‘The Risk to Civilization from Exterrestrial Objects’. There are some individual lectures, and some audio files, all of which require Real Player.
Several dozen Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs) made for staff and students at the University of Nottingham, lasting between 15 and 30 minutes, can be accessed here. Topics can be searched by a detailed list and include: Anatomy, Genetics, Maths, Midwifery, Pharmacology, Philosophy, Veterinary Science. Although the site states that it has not been updated since 2008 items are in fact still being added. Although spartan in appearance it remains an easy-to-use and fascinating resource. Requires Flash.
This site includes a large number of audio and video lectures available either as MP3 files or on video requiring Real Player. The topics covered range across a very wide spectrum, from Cascade Topology, String Theory and Mathematical Biology to seminars on Numeracy and Beyond and Hollywood Perceptions of Mathematics.
