Lets talk about theatre

Theatrevoice, one of the leading website for audio content about British theatre, features in-depth interviews with a wide range of directors, actors, writers and other professionals, many of which are freely available to stream or download from their extensive archive.

The site was set up in 2003 by founding editor Dominic Cavendish (critic for the Daily Telegraph) to see if theatre could be talked about in a new way. Its mission is to:

  • enable critics to be more expansive than the usual space constraints of the print media allow
  • enable actors, writers, directors and designers to be heard speaking in detail and at length about their work
  • help members of the public interact more directly with theatre-makers and commentators

In 2008, the V&A Theatre Collection and Rose Bruford College, London agreed to support the site in partnership.

For more information on more than 30 Shakespeare-related interviews with directors such as Tim Supple, Mark Rylance and Declan Donellan, and actors Simon Russell Beale, Clare Higgins, John Kani and Rory Kinnear, see BUFVC’s The International Shakespeare Database.
