London Transport Films Online
Published: 12 November 2010The London Transport Museum website now features a small selection of films that can be viewed online. Drawn from its substantial collection of films, most notably documentaries made by British Transport Films in the 1950s and 1960s, these eight films represent a broad range of material from 1910 to 1970.
Of special interest to News on Screen users is the inclusion of issue number 12 of the cinemagazine Cinegazette, the much loved The Elephant Will Never Forget. Directed by John Krish, this ten minute film reflects and documents the sentiment evoked in London’s population as the capital’s trams pass their last week in operation. More of this award winning documentary filmmaker’s work can currently be seen in the programme, A Day in the Life, part of the bfi’s Shadows of Progress season.
