Copenhagen climate change conference

notstupid_logo_final_thumbnailThe campaigning film THE AGE OF STUPID, directed by Franny Armstrong, will be shown on BBC4  in the Storyville strand on 14 December, as part of the BBC’s coverage of the UN Climate Change COP 15 conference.  This drama documentary stars Pete Postlethwaite  as an  elderly man living alone in the devastated future world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking ‘why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?’ Further information on the film is available on THE AGE OF STUPID website, which also plans to host eight 20-minute live web shows from the summit. The film is notable not just for its approach to the subject matter,  but also for its innovative crowd-funding financing model and the indie screenings distribution system. The story of the production of the film is told in the 50-minute Making Of documentary which is free to watch on The Guardian’s website and also available for purchase with the film itself  in the double-DVD pack.

The Open University  is taking a team of academics and journalists to the COP 15 conference and it will be possible so see, hear and read their coverage on Twitter, Platform, Facebook, YouTube and OpenLearn. More information is given in the OU blog.
