The BBC has launched Democracy Live, an iPlayer-style website that shows live and on-demand coverage of Parliamentary sessions across the UK and of the European Parliament. Each institution is featured in the ‘video wall’ on the home page and has its own section, listing the business being covered each day. The site uses innovative search technology that indexes using a ‘speech-to-text system’, taking words as spoken in the video recording, so that particular issues or debates can easily be followed. The videos will build into an archive and be added to the selection of key historic moments since the 1980s which are already in the ‘view again’ collection. Most video recordings, except currently ones from the House of Commons and House of Lords, may be embedded in blogs or websites.
