Big Picture
This website is a free educational resource that explores the innovations and implications of modern science. It sets out to connect modern biomedical science with its ethical and social challenges and place bioscience research in a historical and cultural context. The wide range of Resources includes animations, videos and audio clips. Users can filter their searches by topic, resource type and educational level, which ranges from 5-7 years old up to undergraduate and continuing professional development.

Institute of Latin American Studies: Videos and Podcasts
Series of podcasts from the Institute of Latin American Studies at the School of Advanced Study, University of London. Featuring speakers from Latin and South American universities as well as European institutions, the podcasts cover a wide range of subjects including decolonisation, Latin American fiction in UK libraries, mining in the Andes, the legacy of Hugo Chavez, and religious practices in the Caribbean, to name but a few.

Media Burn
Extensive, groundbreaking archive of freely available independent video content from the USA (and especially Chicago). Media Burn’s mission is to preserve audiovisual records of history and culture and to make them available to anyone who wishes to see them. The archive has been accumulated over the 40-year career of videomaker and tv producer Tom Weinberg. The content derives from Weinberg’s own shows, from work by friends of Weinberg, and from donors including Bill Veeck and renowned oral historian Studs Terkel. Video quality is not always high but much of the content is unique, forming a diverse picture of American cultural, social and political life from 1949 to the present day.

Poet in the City – Audio and Video Archive
An archive of over 350 recorded and filmed interviews, readings and performances given by poets, writers and speakers at events organised by Poet in the City, a publicly funded arts organisation. The site’s Podcast features discussions on different aspects of poetry, including poetry and comedy, German poetry, poetry and politics, poetry and performance and the poetry of Samuel Beckett, featuring experts, poets and actors, including Andrew Motion, Juliet Stevenson, Wendy Cope, Don Paterson and Zoe Wanamaker.

Safe Hands for Mothers
‘Safe Hands for Mothers’ is an organisation which aims to improve maternal and newborn health, advocate for policy change and increase investment in maternal and newborn health. They aim to achieve these aims through the production of films which are used by their partners at a community, national and international level. The organisation’s focus is particularly on African countries including Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. The films address issues such as FGM, safe family planning, newborn care. Many of the films are intended for the use of frontline health workers in rural communities but can be used in a much wider educational context.

Sights and Sounds of the First World War
Beautifully designed site featuring digitised footage, sounds and documents from New Zealand and Australian film archives about the First World War. The site was created to commemorate the centenary of Australia and New Zealand’s involvement in World War One by showcasing audio-visual material related to the war held by Nga Taonga Sound & Vision (NTSV) and the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA). Designed for browsing, the site has been arranged according to three main subjects: Homefronts, Battlefronts and Aftermath. Within each subject users can browse content arranged according to different themes, including cinema going, the home front, conscription, war in Europe, the Gallipoli Campaign, Anzac Day etc. Users can also search for material via an interactive timeline and map.
