The Big Cartoon DataBase
The BCDB project began in 1996 as a list of Disney animated features on creator Dave Koch’s personal computer. In response to increasing interest in the material, the DataBase went online in 1998 as a searchable resource dedicated to compiling information about cartoons, including production details such as voice actors, producers, and directors, as well as plot summaries and user reviews. Other features include news items related to the animation industry and an image gallery, which allows users to see images of various cartoon characters taken from popular films. Many films are streamed on the site.

Nucleus Animation Library
Nucleus Health creates animations, illustrations and interactive multimedia relating to medicine, primarily designed for patient education. Their animation library includes over 200 high quality 3D animations which cover a variety of subjects, including cardiology, dermatology, breast cancer, diagnostic tests and procedures, ear, nose and throat (ENT), emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology. The animations are freely available to view in watermarked versions. Users who buy a licence can use the content on their own websites.

The site hosts over 100 animations from the renowned British animator and teacher. The animations are divided into broad groups including – Animation Tutorials, Geordie Animations, Art History, Animations on How Things Work and Experimental Films.

Sumanas Animation Gallery
Sumanas is a media production company which produces interactive products aimed at higher education. Their goal is to produce graphics, video and animation to enhance learning and the company’s website features a number of free animations selected from various projects in which they have been involved, covering biology, neuroscience, environmental science, chemistry and astronomy. This animation about the Global Carbon Cycle is illustrative of their productions.
