Audiovisual Citation Guidelines – let us know your thoughts
Published: 15 September 2017We are updating our AV Citation Guidelines (first edition March 2013) and would very much appreciate your input into the second edition. Once completed, the second edition will be made available to all our members.
Background
Our original guidelines (pictured) were developed to address the growing need for a clear, comprehensive and consistent system for the citation of moving image and sound. Despite the increasing use of audiovisual material in higher and further education, the basic criteria listed in existing referencing systems such as Harvard and Chicago do not fully address the wide range of types and formats that need formal citation based, as they are, on standards developed for the written word.
How you can participate?
Could you please email hetty@bufvc.ac.uk by 18 September 2017 if you have any suggestions for additions or amendments to the guidelines? This can take any form, for example, specific citations, formats or enhancements in the guide itself to make it more user friendly. You can access the original guidelines here.
Please feel free to share this email with colleagues and students. We want this to be a collaborative project between ourselves and our members.
We very much look forward to receiving your input.
