Opening up the Research Education Space
Published: 7 January 2013The BUFVC is about to embark on a new project with the BBC and Jisc, which will involve opening up a portion of post-August 1989 BBC broadcasts using the ERA licences and the BUFVC’s Box of Broadcasts (BoB National) service.
BoB National is a shared online off-air TV and radio recording service, used by almost 1 in 4 higher education institutions in the UK. In 2012 it streamed some 320 programmes per hour from 50+ channels. Users of BoB National can select, record, view and create clips of broadcast programmes, which are then kept indefinitely and shared amongst all subscribing users, from anywhere in the UK.
The Jisc blog detailing the BUFVC’s involvement in the project can be seen here
