BUFVC – Investing in new developments, research & projects
Published: 14 June 2012The BUFVC continues to invest in new developments, research and projects to assist with the use of moving image and sound in education. During the 2011-2012 membership year these have included:
- a new and easy way to search 9 of the BUFVC’s databases straight from the BUFVC homepage. Members can now view and filter almost 15 million film, television and radio records, dating from 1896 onwards, via a single search box
- additional channels added to BoB National including BBC1 & 2 Scotland, BBC1 & 2 Wales, Sky News and Russia Today
- over 1 million records added to TRILT (currently at 14,503,004 records – April 2012)
- launching Chronicle: BBC Northern Ireland’s television news from the 60s and 70s – for exclusive use by UK HEIs & FEIs
- the UK launch of EUscreen – free online access to videos, stills, texts and audio from European broadcasters and audiovisual archives
And coming soon:
- We’re working with broadcasters, via the BUFVC Shared Services Project, to provide even better data on TRILT
- More than 300 items of audio-visual content from the United Press International Television News (UPITN) will be made available exclusively to HEIs and FEIs as part of News on Screen
- A new searchable database of the weekly Channel 4 press information packs, produced from 1982 to 2002. The packs were innovative in their design and the wealth of information they provided.
- We’ll be redesigning the BUFVC website to ensure members get the most out of our resources and can continue to access what they require easily
- A new interface and increased functionality for BoB National (to be released Easter 2013)
- Plus more…
