The DCMS has recently published proposals to allow local television stations to be created across the UK.

The services will broadcast on Freeview and initial infrastructure costs will be met from £25 million allocated from the television licence fee settlement.

The plan is to license the first stations from summer 2012, with 10-20 such services operating by 2015.
