In 2005 the RSA’s Adelphi Charter called for a new deal on Intellectual Property (IP) for the digital age, but, for many, this remains a distant vision. On Wednesday 2 March 2011 the RSA will gather an expert panel to consider how the current Independent Review of IP and Growth, which is being led by Professor Ian Hargreaves, might help the UK develop a technology neutral IP Framework which will drive innovation and growth by serving consumer-led markets, technology companies and research and education, as well as the creative industries.

The speakers for the debate are: Sarah Hunter, head of UK public policy, Google; John Howkins, chairman, BOP Consulting and past director of the Adelphi Charter on Creativity, Innovation and Intellectual Property; Simon Juden, head of public policy, Pearson Plc; Alison Wenham, chairman and chief executive, Association of Independent Music and Ian Hargreaves, professor of digital economy, the Cardiff School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies and Cardiff Business School, and chair of the Independent Review of IP and Growth. The event will be chaired by Matthew Taylor, and will take place before a public audience in the RSA’s historic Great Room auditorium.

Although the event is now sold out, it will be broadcast online live and will be accessible at:
