As part of the ‘Shakespeare is German‘ season at the Shakespeare Globe, the Goethe Institute in London is hosting a series of screenings and platform discussions on German responses to Shakespeare.

These include screenings of Peter Paul Felner’s 1923 ‘Der Kaufmann von Venedig’, Helmut Käutner’s ‘Der Rest ist Schweigen’ (1959) and the notorious multi-media art project ‘hamlet_X’ . There will also be a talk with Thomas Ostermeier (artistic director for the critically acclaimed Hamlet, Berliner Schaubühne in 2008/9).
