Radio Times digitisation
Published: 24 August 2010After many delays and much development (including consultation with the BUFVC), plans are now firmly underway to digitse the entirety of the Radio Times listings magazine, which includes details of all BBC television and radio broadcasts going right back to 1923, as part of the BBC Genome. It is hoped that by Autumn 2011 the entirety of the magazine’s listings data (but for the moment not the scans of the pages themselves) will be available online.
From 1922 to 1991 the Radio Times exclusively provided details of BBC programmes while the TV Times magazine provided the information for programmes broadcast on ITV from 1955 onwards – TVTiP, the BUFVC index to the TV Times, includes details of all its scheduled broadcasts from its inception until 1985 (by which time it also included Channel 4 broadcast details).
