Learning on Screen 2010 Conference & Awards

The 2010 Learning on Screen Conference & Awards will take place on 27-28 April 2010 at the Open University in Milton Keynes.
The 2010 conference will commence at midday on 27th April and conclude at 2.30 pm on 28th April. Plenary sessions will be held in the Old Lecture Theatre and there will be a small-scale exhibition arranged in the adjacent room where refreshments will also be served. During the two days there will be opportunities to visit the Open University’s Knowledge Media Institute and understand how their development work supports the OU’s distance-learning mission.
N.B. This programme is still subject to minor revisions and final confirmation of speakers’ names.
27th APRIL 2010 – SUPPORTING LEARNING AND TEACHING BEYOND THE CAMPUS

Lunch will be served in the room adjacent to the Old Lecture Theatre where there will also be a small-scale exhibition relating to the conference.

2.00 pm – The Economy of Free (tbc)
Universities are making vast amounts of content freely available, be it under Open Learning initiatives, podcasting or captured lectures. Is this sustainable and what benefits does it actually bring to the University and its students?
2.30 pm – Video Conferencing – as a teaching and learning tool
3.00 pm – Lecture Capture – how to do it and how to scale it
3.30 pm – tea break
3.45 pm – Flash Meetings – using online spaces for assessment and communication
4.15 pm – iTunesU – is it worth it and what does it bring back to the University?
4:50 pm – The Digital Scholar - how to support and nurture the skills of Scholar 2.0
5.30 pm – End of the first day and opportunity to visit the OU’s Knowledge Media Institute
