Labour’s General Secretary Jim Mortimer accuses Thatcher of misrepresenting the facts. Liberal economic spokesman Richard Wainwright predicts that there will be a further economic squeeze if the Tories come to power and follow their manifesto. David Owen of the SDP says the British people will reject the Labour government as an alternative to the Tories, thanks to their economic and defence policies.
