Description
Labour MP, John Prescott following the Penlee lifeboat disaster of 19/12/81, on international law applying to stricken vessels carrying potentially polluting cargo. He says if a vessel is in the waters of a particular country, that country can overrule a ship’s master if he is refusing salvage assistance but in the case of the Union Star the law did not apply. He says it is a disgrace that merchants can be left to haggle over the price of towing a ship when seamen’s lives are at risk. Female interviewer not identified.
