Description
Biography of the Queen Mother on her 85th birthday based on an ITV programme. Covers her life including the war, her husband’s death, Scotland, farming, gardening, horse racing and her royal duties. Includes recordings from her meeting with firemen earlier this year; visit to Northern Ireland; commissioning of the Ark Royal; speech and recordings at the Aberdeen Angus Society’s Field Day. Speaks to her housekeeper in Scotland; her gamekeeper; ghillie; Lord Gormley (Joe Gormley) and Dick Francis. Accompanied by music from the armed services and Elgin’s Nursery Suite composed for the Queen Mother. Part 2 after long break in recording accompanies the Queen Mother on the Royal Yacht Britannia on a tour of the West Country and Isles of Scilly and her visits to Venice, Canada, Brixton, a biscuit factory, Cornish tin mine and Hyde Park.
