- Description
- Gareth Furby reports on a drugs raid by the Metropolitan Police on the Broadwater Farm estate in north London, coming just a week before the fourth anniversary of the riots in which PC Keith Blakelock was killed. The officers who led the raid were accompanied by an independent observer group including representatives from the Haringey Community Relations Council, and the Haringey Police Consultative Group. The police also distributed two thousand, five hundred leaflets to residents of the estate, explaining the purpose of the operation; this will be followed up by distribution of a similar letter detailing the results of the operation, over the weekend. Includes recording of raid with angry protests of residents; vox pop with residents; Fred Ellis, police observer group.
