- Today is the last day of work for the first four people sacked from the Government’s GCHQ at Cheltenham. They have been dismissed for refusing to give up their union membership, after the Government claimed union involvement was a threat to security. Eighteen people in all face sackings or compulsory transfers. Mike Grindley, who has worked at the centre for 27 years, says he is outraged by his dismissal. Female reporter not identified.
