Catherine Bayfield reports on an attempt to re-enact the first flight across the Channel by Louis Bleriot in 1909. The vintage Bleriot Type XI monoplane ditched into the sea just short of the crossing, it was piloted by Gloria Pullan after Louis Bleriot III (grandson of original pilot) was found to be too heavy.
