- Description
- Bill Bruford was the drummer with bands Yes and King Crimson. Now he’s formed a new and different band called Earthworks, which is concentrating on jazz and rock, using electric and acoustic instruments. Earthworks’ second album, Dig? (title includes question mark), has just been released and the band are playing a rare London date at the end of the month (20 June 1989), at the Royalty Theatre. Bruford is a musician with a wide range of skills, but Earthworks has marked him among the leading exponents of modern jazz. However, Bruford himself believes that the jazz revival is something invented by the music media and hasn’t quite happened yet. Interviewer is John Butterick.
