France and Germany have begun testing travellers arriving from plague-hit India. Six of the Gulf States have also launched screening checks with fears rising that the deadly bug could spread. More than 40 people have been killed by pneumonic plague in Surat; there are suspected cases in Delhi and Bombay, and bubonic plague is also a problem. Paul Chapman reports.
