- Secretary of State for Health, William Waldegrave rejects claims that the NHS is suffering. The BMA has put forward a case for a 6 million-pound injection of cash into the NHS, but the Government claims the service has economic plans in place which will keep the service healthy. John Chawner, Chairman of the BMA’s Consultant Committee, claims the Government will speed up the deterioration of the NHS.
