- Description
- Chief correspondent Paul Maurice reports on a visit by Prince Charles (Prince of Wales) to the new Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu temple in Neasden, north London. The magnificent building cost fifteen million pounds to build. Guide Girish Patel showed him around, starting in the foyer and explained some of the beliefs of his faith. Prince Charles eulogises about the temple in his speech. Since August when the temple was first opened, half a million visitors from around the world have made the trip to Neasden. It has become a tourist attraction in its own right. Beneath the main hall is a museum, which preaches the Hindu doctrine.
