There have been six bids for the Radio Authority’s new national commercial speech-based radio station license INR3: Talk Radio UK Limited; Newstalk UK Limited; Apollo Radio Limited; LBC; First National Entertainment Ltd owned by former head of Capital Radio John Whitney; Jim Black Broadcast Company. The highest bid will not necessarily win as the past two rounds have shown with Showtime Radio losing out to Classic FM for IRN 1 and International Broadcasting losing out to Richard Branson’s Virgin. Report by Mark Phillips from the radio car outside the Radio Authority and Angela Rippon interviews the Deputy Chief Executive of the Radio Authority Paul Brown. On Drivetime show.
