Description

There have been allegations of ticket fraud on the London-Tilbury-Southend rail service in the run-up to rail privatisation. Jimmy Knapp, General Secretary of the RMT union, is critical of Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine and Minister for Transport Stephen Norris having tried to make a virtue out of a disaster, and observes that the auditing method which detected irregularities in this case will cease to exist under privatisation.
