Paul Rowley reports on a controversial policy document produced by the two leaders of the SDP – Liberal Alliance, Robert Maclennan and David Steel. They were forced to redraft their strategy paper following protests from party members. The two parties are due to vote on merger before the end of 01/88. Includes interviews with both leaders and with MPs Charles Kennedy and Jim Wallace.
