Tributes have been pouring in all day for the former French President Francois Mitterrand who died this morning after a long battle with cancer. Although Mitterrand was an ardent European, former foreign secretary Lord Geoffrey Howe says he had a healthy respect for Premier Margaret Thatcher and Britain’s position during the 1980s.
