Description
The Queen is to make a flying visit to Reading on April the second, and will make a brief trip to Maidenhead later this month. The Reading engagement is to formally open the County Council offices at Shinfield Park. It is expected she will arrive at about three in the afternoon. Tour round Shire Hall seeing the county’s staff at work and then, take tea in the staff restaurant. There will be exhibition of the county’s education and social services work, and it is hoped she will unveil a plaque at the entrance hall comemorating the visit. Berkshire’s chief executive Robert Gash says there is no question of squandering money on the royal tour. [Box 5]
