Synopsis

Radio broadcast. Andrew Dickson profiles the actor Richard Burbage, who starred in many of Shakespeare’s plays when first performed. Now forgotten, he was a huge star in his day and many of Shakespeare’s greatest roles - including Othello, Hamlet and Lear - were written for him.
