People’s Romeo

Synopsis
Radio music and entertainment programme in Bengali. Director Mukul Ahmed talks to presenter Mahbub Hussain about a new theatre production, People’s Romeo, which weaves together Shakespeare’s verse and Bengali poetry to give a modern Bengali twist to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Five performers use Pala Gaan - a Bangladeshi theatre style which combines music, dance and storytelling - to re-invent the play.
