Let Me in

Synopsis
Coming-of-age feature film concerning a young boy’s relationship with a girl vampire. Includes a clip from Zeffirelli’s ROMEO AND JULIET (1968) being shown to a class of 12-year olds and a sequence in which the girl vampire finds the boy reading Romeo and Juliet (Signet edition) outside their apartment. She asks the boy about it and he replies that it is boring. Later, she quotes Romeo’s line ‘I must be gone and live, or stay and die’ in a note she leaves him, and still later the boy is seen on a school bus reading his copy of the play intently. [With acknowledgement to Professor Richard Burt for the details].

Notes

General
The film is a remake of the superlative LÅAT DEN RÄTTE KOMMA/LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (2008) directed by Tomas Alfredson from the novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist. In the original the boy is reading from Tolkien, not Romeo and Juliet.
