Reviews
Jackson, Russell. Shakespeare Quarterly 48 (1997), pp. 208-15 (in review-article); Smallwood, Robert. Shakespeare Survey 50 (1997), pp. 201-24 (especially 207-11). Shuttleworth, Ian. Financial Times (London) 22 May 1996. Shuttleworth writes: ‘This production is more sterile than any of those, including the Mark Rylance farrago. Those who do not know the play will be put off by it: those who do will be bored to distraction. It is full of light, half full of sound, quite devoid of fury and signifies less than nothing’.
