Synopsis
First of a four-part radio series, written and presented by Charles Chilton, examining four centuries of London life through music and literature of times. In this portrait, "Chilton describes the city and the life of its inhabitants, their work and their leisure - music, dancing, bull and bear-baiting, and, of course, the theatre" (London Calling). With Valerie Colgan, Powell Jones, Stephen Thorne as readers. Singers are Pat Whitmore, Charles Young and Denis Gomm plays the harpsichord. The Charles Young choir and the London Players are directed by Denis Nesbitt.
