Synopsis

Special Shakespeare edition of the radio arts review programme presented by Mark Lawson. Examines why the life and works of William Shakespeare continue to inspire so many books, ranging from historical studies and best-selling fiction. Largely made up of clips from previous programmes (with contributions by Michael Pennington, Gregory Doran, James Shapiro, Germaine Greer, J. L. Carrell, Charles Nicholl and Gary Taylor). The programme includes RSC director Gregory Doran talking about his forthcoming staging of Double Falshood; or. The Distrest Lovers and Gary Taylor argues that Middleton wrote some sections of Macbeth.
