Notes

Notes
The production alternated three actors in the role of Richard (Frank Maraden, Nicholas Pennell and Stephen Russell). The Festival Archive has videotaped recordings of all three performances. The critical response was that the alternation had more to do with giving more actors more work than it was making an informed comment about King Richard or the play (as with Ian Richardson and Richard Pasco alternating the roles of Richard and Bolingbroke in the RSC production).
History
The production ran in repertory 6 June-3 November 1979
